Pete and Tammy
Meet your hosts, Peter and Tammy Macfarlane, who along with their three teenage children, Becky, Nathan and Abi, are here to welcome you and make sure you have all you need. Immigrating from South Africa over 20 years ago, they have lived a few lives already! Tammy studied interior design and her artistic skills are evident in all that she does. Peter, also artistically gifted, studied African Wildlife preservation. Their married life commenced with working with lions on Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve in South Africa. Pete and his two brothers grew up hunting and fishing with their father and it is still one of his favourite activities. After working in the Dairy Farm industry here in NZ for a number of years, Peter learned the art of timber framing. He now heads up Heritage Timbercraft located at Mohaka River Farm.

Kelvin
The ever-reliable Kelvin is always here when we need him, dividing his time between the farm and Napier. He is a master knife maker for both kitchen and hunting use and teaches knife making here at the farm. A outdoorsmen through and through, Kelvin enjoys fishing and hunting, with his children and with his mates, and his years of practical experience make him an excellent guide.

Ash
The face behind the camera lens, the Instagramer, and marketing specialist, Ash has an appreciation of beautiful surroundings and knows how to transfer ideas into reality. A mother and the wife of the cowboy, she loves gardening and healthy cooking for family and friends.

Becky and Abi
Becky excels in many areas of craft including quilting, sewing, watercolour paintings, and intricate embroideries. She and her sister Abi love to bake. Taking after their parents, they enjoy creating a beautiful atmosphere for any occasion. Abi is the youngest Macfarlane and a great hand around here to go with her wonderful personality and "can do" attitude. Abi is a horse lover who looks after our herd of trekking horses and will help saddle you up for your ride. She also helps milk our cows, bakes and sews like a champ!

Jared and Tressa
Hiding in the background, typically typing upon the keyboard, Jared and Tressa Wayman help with writings, blog posts and inspiration. But they also enjoy meeting guests and filling in any gaps that might arise.

Nathan
An avid fisherman and a highly accomplished young man who, at 17 is taking great strides in his exciting and busy life. Nathan and his father are available to guide you in fly or spin fishing here on the farm, or for the more adventurous, further upstream in a remote spot accessed by helicopter. Nate and his father also offer woodworking, fly tying and leatherwork courses.

Wilson
Our resident cowboy will cater your horse trek according to your skills and comfort level. His infectious laugh helped him catch his wife, Ash. Outside of horsing around, Wilson works at Heritage Timbercraft and is a father to their daughter and son, Odie and Dawson.

Zara
Zara (on the right) is our resident potter and offers a variety of pottery experiences for our guests. Excitedly, she’s growing a list of restaurants and cafes around Hawke's Bay that feature her beautiful pottery. She generously also made the pottery we use here in our newest cottage "The Fireside". Zara is also an avid sourdough baker, gardener, and along with Becky and Abi, loves to create beautiful atmospheres for special events.

Boone
Boone oversees the grounds on the farm, milks cows, runs woodworking and woodturning classes, and is currently pursuing becoming an EMT. Like most of the young men around here, Boone enjoys fishing, hunting, tramping, and river adventures. Playing his guitar is also a favourite pastime and more enjoyable than tending to the property’s fussy water pump. Although Boone’s name is a nod to his North Carolina heritage, “Boone” literally means “a good thing” and that he is.
